Here’s the thing – when I’m writing for everyone else, I actually find it very difficult to write for myself!

There’s a whole lot that’s happened in the last couple of years that hasn’t made it onto my website, because I’ve been too busy DOING the thing to WRITE ABAOUT the thing. Exactly why I tell people to come to me for their blogging! I ought to know better, really…

Short highlights of 2020-22 then:

  • March 2020- Feb 2021 I spent a lot of time writing for Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum, supporting the voluntary organisations that are members of VSF to support people in need in Cornwall. Hard work, very worthwhile, and very handy for me, as a lot of my regular customers were furloughed or otherwise occupied.

Since then, I’ve been gradually picking up my regular work, including a few significant-sized projects/clients:

  • Writing most of an edition of Discover magazine, for Disability Cornwall.
  • Increasing amounts of work for South West Academic Health Science Network (South West AHSN), including a large amount of re-writing / paraphrasing work on their new-look website, and also on their 2021-22 Annual Review.
  • Becoming the Communications Officer for Cornwall Equality and Diversity Network, carrying out awareness raising campaigns around hearing loss, and how mental ill health affects different groups. More about that in a blog to come.
  • Significant work for Inclusion Cornwall, around its Village Works project, and wider inclusion remit. This has included a refresh of their whole website, as well as updating all of the Resource library.
  • Working with colleagues Bernard and Claire to be the interim communications team for Kent Surrey & Sussex Academic Health Science Network (KSS AHSN), while a new internal comms team is appointed. This has included the entire comms function of the organisation, between the three of us, (until Christmas 2022).
  • Your Partnerships, for which I’ve been writing blogs (no longer on their website) and various items for The Voice newspapers, and other media channels, and arranging the content for, and proofreading the monthly flyers. I am now a Sponsor Member of Your Partnerships.

I have also found some smaller new clients:

  • The Bear in Mine’d teddy bear museum, in Troon, run by a friend, for which I’ve written the museum boards, the website, and most of the rest of everything, and for which we’re now setting up an online shop.
  • Easter Blooms, selling eco-friendly plants and garden products in West Cornwall and online.
  • In Caring Hands, a care agency, with more appealing, softer, content than it had before
  • Minerva Health and Safety Consultancy, for whom I’m proofreading training courses.
  • I’ve also proofread a pair of autobiographies, almost back-to-back, that were written in lockdown. You can buy one online – Viv Bennett’s (now Viv Gauge – congratulations!)’s Meanderings of a Serial Goat Keeper.

The long and short of it is – I’m still here, I’m busy, but always happy to chat with more potential customers, or returning customers, and I’d love to explore what you need help with in the broad area of ‘words’.

“Working with Hannah Danson has been one of those quietly brilliant collaborations. The kind that doesn’t shout for attention but leaves a lasting impression.

Hannah brings a calm, thoughtful presence to her work. She listens deeply, not just to what’s said, but to what’s meant. That sensitivity shows in the stories she helps shape. Stories that feel honest, grounded, and gently powerful. She has a way of making people feel safe enough to share, and that’s no small thing.

She’s also quietly tenacious. Whether navigating a string of no-shows or coaxing clarity from a hesitant speaker, Hannah keeps going. Not loudly, but with purpose. She’s organised without being rigid, creative without being chaotic, and always generous with her insight.

What I’ve appreciated most is her instinct for what matters. She knows when a story needs space, when a quote sings, and when to let something go. That kind of editorial intuition makes her a joy to work with.

If you’re looking for someone who brings care, clarity, and quiet strength to creative work, I can’t recommend Hannah enough.”

“The [OFSTED checking] process has been very useful for us and I have passed your contact on to my old CEO who I think will be in touch! “

“I approached Hannah to work on this project, as … I knew she would be the best person to use, with her experience and attention to detail…  She edited the text, …and in addition, she made a number of helpful suggestions about extra items which should be included, as well as sourcing that information.
We were working to a tight deadline and Hannah pulled out all the stops to complete the work in just over a week.
I couldn’t have been happier with the work Hannah did, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone.”

“I hired Hannah to support with copy for my new website. What a breeze! Hannah took my ideas and developed a wonderful feel-good factor which I know inspires my clients for their wedding day. Hannah is very easy to work with and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend.”
