Proofreading and Editing
When you have written an important document, a book, a report, a business leaflet, and poked it and tweaked it, and shuffled it around… it can turn into a muddle of words that no longer makes sense to you.
Having a second pair of eyes to look over it, to make sure you’ve not turned it into nonsense, can avoid embarrassing or costly errors.
If you are dyslexic, or don’t speak English as your first language, or are not 100% confident in your own English language skills, I am happy to go through your text and make sure everything is correct. Even if you’re happy with your English, but you just don’t have time to double-check, drop me a line!
It’s not embarrassing to have someone check your English is correct – it’s good sense – and we never judge. Customers will be put off by mistakes, so lose the mistakes, not the customers!
The HD Words offer
Editing and proofreading is charged per thousand words, or part of a thousand words. (So 0-1000 words is charged as 1000, and 1001-2000 words is charged as 2000, etc.) Price varies depending on the level of work required, starting at £12.50. For projects over £300, payment is required in instalments, with an initial payment, and one or more mid-payments, then a final payment.
An on-call retainer service can be arranged for businesses requiring regular proofreading, e.g. of client documents or reports. Please contact me to discuss.

I Hear a Melody is a novel written by a friend. I was honoured when she asked me to proofread it, and she was delighted with the work I did.
Satyagraha is an extensive and well-researched history of the beginning of the turmoil in Sri Lanka, in the middle of the 20th Century. The largest book I’ve worked on, and the most complex, with multitudes of polysyllabic names, and complex situations.
