Words and writing them

Words are powerful. They can make you feel things and do things.Try these for size – how do they make you feel…?

Once upon a time…Skull and cross bones toxic warning sign

Suddenly, the door slammed behind them…

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

DANGER – HIGHLY TOXIC.

On an envelope:

FINAL DEMAND,

Do not open till Feb 14th,

Her Majesty’s Court Service.

See what I mean?

When you are writing about your business, your aim is often to make people feel that they want to know more, or to have some of whatever product or service you’re writing about. If you’ve been writing about your products for years, you may find it hard to bring something fresh to your writing, or find a different way to say the same thing again. Or you may know the technical details inside out and find it hard to take a step back and give a bigger picture in non-tech language.

This is where having someone else do your writing can be really helpful. I don’t have the same mental block on describing your services, nor have I written about them many times over already, so I’ll bring a fresh perspective. If you supply me with the information or tell me what you want to say, then I can produce the text you need. If necessary I can write several versions – press release, newsletter article and page for your website perhaps.  Or even a version in 140 characters or less for Twitter.  It can be done!
